Frequently Asked Questions:  A little Q & A with the owner/maker of Bluegrass Garden Beds.

Q. How durable is Cypress?

A. Cypress is extremely resistant to both insects and decay due to the wood’s own natural preservative cypressine. Ancient Egyptians used cypress to make pharaoh’s caskets. In the Middle Ages, craftsmen used cypress to carve

cathedral doors. Today, cypress is used in home construction, docks, beams, decks, flooring, paneling, roof and

house shingles and siding.

Q. Have you sealed the wood, if not, should I seal the wood?

A. We have not sealed the wood or treated it with any chemicals. We do not recommend sealing the wood

if you are planning to grow edible plants. Over time the sealer can break down and leach into the soil and

into the roots of your plants. When cypress is left in it natural state, it will weather to a silver gray color.

Q. Will I have trouble with the beds warping?

A. Our cypress is kiln dried; therefore it has little or no tendency to warp, twist, or cup.

Q. Everything that says "No Tool Assembly" ends up needing a tool of some sort.  What is

required for your beds?

A.  The only tool you need is one to cut the tape from the shipment boxes.  That tool can even be a butterknife.

Q. Since it is natural wood, will I need help carrying these parts to my planting location?

A.  No.  Your garden beds will arrive in a single box or multiple, depending on your order.  Once you have opened

the packages, you may carry as many pieces that are the most managelable for you.  Cypress is a very durable, but

lightweight wood and is very easily handled.

Q. What purpose does the dovetail function on the posts and wall sets serve?

A. The natural shape of the dovetail is a triangle-like shape.  This allows the wall sets to slide down into the

post but also provide a locking mechanism for the raised beds.  This concept is why you do not need nails, screws

or any other fasteners for these beds.  No matter what is placed into the garden beds, the posts will not separate

from the wall sets

Q. What purpose does the tongue and groove on the wall sets serve?

A. Most people think that a raised garden bed is simple to make and no science in it at all.  The tongue and

groove or (top, middle & bottom boards) serve as a way to keep the boards from bowing or pushing away from

each other.  It's a stabilizer so that the wall sets maintain perfect alignment no matter how much dirt is placed

inside the raised beds.

Q. How soon can I expect my order?

A. Most orders are processed and shipped the same day as we receive them. We will provide you with a link to

UPS and the UPS tracking number for you to check the progression of your shipment.

Q. Final question, why should I buy your product?

A.This probably the hardest easy question that I have ever been asked.  Bluegrass Garden Beds was designed

by my father, whom I have great respect and admiration for his innovational ideas.  I'm a small business that

still strives for perfection when dealing with our product and our customer service.  I love taking something

raw and uncut and turning it into something beautiful that someone else may enjoy for themselves or with

their family members. Gardening is more than a hobby, it's a passion.  For most, it is a way of life.  My passion

for making these garden beds is only paralleled by those who use them.  I hope that I can make the passion

of gardening continue in those who have lived it and spark the passion for those who have yet to enjoy it.
